Symbols of the EU

One of the (0) (symbol) symbols of the European Union is its anthem, which comes from Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Although  the composer set the melody to words  from Friedrich Schiller’s poem “Ode to Joy”, the EU anthem has music only. According to the EU’s official website, the melody symbolises , peace and solidarity. The anthem is  played at official EU .

Unity, harmony and solidarity are also represented (0) by the European flag. It has  circle of 12 golden stars on a blue background. The number  the stars is not accidental – 12 is believed  symbolise perfection and completeness. The flag  been an official symbol of the European Communities, which later became  European Union,  1985.
