Famous by Chance

Many singers dream of becoming famous. For some, it takes years of hard work; for others, fame finds them when they least expect it. Even if you haven’t considered becoming popular, a simple shopping trip or an appointment at the hairdresser’s can be life-changing! Here are a few incredible stories.

Nick Jonas

When Nick Jonas was just 6, he once went with his mother to a hair salon and started singing there to keep himself amused. A talent agent, who happened to be at the salon, heard him and was impressed. The following year, Jonas was performing in a Broadway production of A Christmas Carol. He later formed a band with his talented brothers, and they achieved great success.

Justin Bieber

The singer Justin Bieber is famous worldwide, but it was pure chance (and YouTube) that brought him fame. At the age of 12, Bieber started posting videos of himself singing on YouTube. Justin once said that the channel “had a hundred views, then a thousand views, then ten thousand views,” so he kept posting more and more videos. Eventually, he was discovered by a manager who flew him to Atlanta to meet Usher.

Billie Eilish

When Billie Eilish was 13, her dance teacher asked her to write a song for a choreographed dance. With the help of her brother Finneas, Eilish recorded “Ocean Eyes”, which was uploaded to SoundCloud, a popular streaming service. Billie had only intended for her dance teacher to hear the song, but she was pleasantly surprised when the song went viral in just a couple of weeks. Not long after that, her career took off, and she signed a deal with a record label.
